Video Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or in your house on your home computer, through an Internet account. The regulations are absolutely simple and involve the player attempting to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are agile enough to choose the most money-making game each time.
As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, several versions of the game allow the enthusiast a chance to double their wins, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
