Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be played in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, using a net connection. The game rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the best combination of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be "dealt" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be given out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable gamblers are able to pick the most beneficial game every instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
