Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be wagered on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a net connection. The rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with money. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be "given out" on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has decided on which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are agile enough to choose the most money-making machine each and every time.

After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, several styles of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their wins, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
